29th Annual Professional of the Year (POY) Banquet
Presented by the Huntsville Association of Technical Societies (HATS)

The Huntsville Association of Technical Societies will hold its 2012 Professional of the Year (POY12) Banquet on June 26. Tim Pickens, Huntsville "rocket man," will be the keynote speaker, and Greg Screws, WHNT news anchor, will be the master of ceremonies. The event will begin at 5:30 pm at Bridge Street's Westin Hotel. Network with members from other technical societies and friends, and join societies in recognizing their Professionals of the Year. One Professional of the Year from the nominations will be presented the Moquin Award, named after Joseph C. Moquin, honored for his support of the Huntsville area. The price is $25 per person.

The Professional of the Year (POY) banquet provides HATS member organizations the opportunity to publicly recognize one of their own for exceptional professionalism. Each member organization selects its own POY and a HATS committee selects one of the POYs as the recipient of the Joseph C. Moquin Award. The criteria for the awards are as shown at the bottom of this page.

Music will be provided by Ron Hackett. Volunteer hostesses will assisting. We thank them and our sponsors for their support.

There has been some regrouping and rethinking, and any information you may have received before May 17 is not correct.

This year we are doing things differently, which results in the price of the meal to be only $25.00 per person. Your Society can purchase a table for 8 people for $200.00. We are working out sponsorships that will allow your banner to be displayed at the event.

Please select your societies POY and submit the information using the forms below by June 15, for them to be considered for the Joseph C. Moquin Award.

Please provide a summary of your Societies accomplishments for the past year, which will be used to pick a Society of the Year Award.

Criteria for a POY Award:

He or she has

Retained membership in the professional organization that is a member in good standing of HATS.
Demonstrated excellence in some professional (technical or managerial) work or activity that is concerned with broad and beneficial technical, scientific, social or economic consequences. This excellence shall be exemplified in his or her workplace, in the professional organization in which they are participant members of, and/or in volunteer efforts.
Exhibited an extraordinary dedication, creativity or leadership in that work or activity that results in excellent contributions to the technical and economic development of the City of Huntsville and the surrounding areas.

Criteria for the Moquin Award:

The Moquin Awardee will be chosen from among the current year's POY group (nominated by their respective member organizations) who will stand out as one who has stood above their peers by providing exemplary leadership to the North Alabama technical community. This involvement and leadership shall have been long-standing with commitment and consistency.

History

Each year, member societies of HATS can select an individual from within their ranks for recognition as their Professional of the Year (POY). The criteria for this selection are:

Engaged in professional work or activity that is concerned with broad and beneficial social, defense, technological or economic consequences.
Key contributor to the success of the organization or community activity.
Exhibited an extraordinary dedication, creativity, or leadership in that work or activity.
Participate in a professional organization that is a member of HATS.

POYs are honored at the HATS POY Awards Dinner. Individual members of HATS Member Societies are encouraged to help honor their society choices by attending the HATS Awards Dinner and sitting at their society's table(s).
